Over the Memorial Day Weekend, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Division of Boating Safety witnessed a massive aquatic extravaganza throughout Mohave County. Picture this: deputies, rescue divers, and River Medical paramedics riding in style on MCSO patrol boats, cruising from the Parker Dam to the Davis Dam on the mighty Colorado River, and making waves on Lake Havasu.

As the weekend unfolded, deputies found themselves playing detective in three boat crashes that miraculously caused no injuries, and in one unfortunate incident where someone got a bit banged up. They also lent their expertise to assist other agencies in dealing with various mishaps and mayhem. However, their day took a somber turn when they responded to a heartbreaking drowning incident involving a brave little 8-year-old swimmer at London Bridge Beach. Our thoughts go out to her, as she fights for her life in critical condition at a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Let’s shift gears to the impressive stats: deputies played social butterfly by engaging with a whopping 270 boaters. In their attempts to educate the water-loving crowd, they issued 190 warnings and 49 citations. They didn’t stop there, as they brought the hammer down on 14 reckless operators, caught one minor sneaking a sip of forbidden nectar, and slapped the cuffs on seven individuals under the influence of liquid courage while operating a watercraft. Talk about keeping the waters safe!

But wait, there’s more! Deputies sprang into action to respond to nine medical calls, relying on the trusty River Medical Paramedics to work their magic. And let’s not forget the 21 boaters they came to the rescue of, ensuring everyone had a memorable, albeit bumpy, experience.

Amidst the sea of activity, deputies managed to sprinkle some wisdom and positivity. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office wants everyone to remember the golden rules: Boat Safe, Boat Smart, Boat Sober, and of course, never forget to flaunt that stylish lifejacket. Keep riding those waves responsibly!

    1. I really enjoyed the post. But still so sad and praying for the little girl. 🙏

  1. With a crazy populated weekend, children should be wearing life jackets, regardless on the beach or on a boat. Too much craziness with drinking and distractions.
Prayers of mighty strength she pulls through.

  2. Thank you for all you do, you are so appreciated. Love the intrigue in this writing. Please, write all the reportings! Love it❤️.
