Officer Involved Shooting

During the 2 AM hour officers were dispatched to the area of 2600 block of N. Rainbow for an open 9-1-1.

Upon arrival officers called out that a male subject is stating he has a gun, but refuses to show his hands.

At the 3 AM hour corporal on scene called out shots fired and asked for medical to be dispatched and additional units to speed up their arrival.

The interior of the house was secured and scene called out as secured.

Officer advised dispatch the subject has minor breathing with no pulse.

At 3:19 am the male subject was declared deceased.

The female in the incident was taken by officers to the police station for interview.

Officers are still processing the scene as of time of this post.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

On July 25, 2018, at approximately 2:51 a.m., Lake Havasu City Police Department Officers were dispatched to the area of Rainbow Lane and North Rainbow Avenue for an open 9-1-1 call where a male and a female could be heard screaming. Officers arrived in the area within minutes and attempted to contact one of the involved subjects in the 2600 block of Rainbow Lane.

During the contact, three Lake Havasu City Police Officers discharged their weapons at the male subject who suffered fatal injuries. The three officers will be placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in an officer involved shooting.  No officers were injured during the incident.  The Kingman Police Department will be conducting the investigation and will release further information as it becomes available.

    Glad the officers are safe but would really like more info.
    Knowing the Havasu police dept, that information won’t be coming anytime soon

    Sad for the family and friends of the deceased. This may have been a “Suicide by cop” but we’ll never know what was in the mind of this person at that time. Tho that doesnt make the situation any easier to understand. To the officers involved “You did what you had to do to keep yourselves safe”. And for the female involved, its a long process but know this wasnt your fault for the ending. God Bless you all involved.
