On November 9, 2014, at approximately 5:00 p.m. Lake Havasu City police officers were dispatched to the parking lot adjacent to the Tinnell Memorial Sports Park to investigate a single-vehicle accident into a light pole.

The investigation revealed that the driver, 19-year-old Lake Havasu City resident Nicholas Andrews, lost control while driving at a high rate of speed through the parking lot causing his pickup truck to collide with the light pole. There was a 19-year-old passenger sitting in the right front passenger seat, as well as four juveniles sitting in the bed of the pickup truck at the time of the crash. All five passengers sustained non-life threatening injuries and all eventually received treatment at Havasu Regional Medical Center.

Based on the information learned through the investigation, Andrews was arrested for reckless driving, criminal damage, and four counts of endangerment. Andrews posted a $10,000 bond after his initial appearance at the Lake Havasu City Police Department jail facility on November 10, and was released.
