PRESS RELEASE regarding Barranca Fire

At approximately 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2018, a fire was reported by a
homeowner in the 2100 block of Barranca Dr. The occupant discovered the couch on fire in the living room and evacuated the residence. The first arriving fire company reported flames coming from the front window. Four Engine Companies, one Truck Company, one Division Chief and two Battalion Chief’s responded to the fire and gained control of the fire in 11 minutes. The occupant evacuated the house safely. There were no reported injuries to the firefighters. CERT responded to the fire to assist with Rehab duties for the firefighters. Crews remained on the scene additional 3 hours conducting salvage operations. Fire damage was confined to the living room with extensive heat and smoke damage throughout the remainder of the residence. Damages were estimated at $45,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation
