PRESS RELEASE: Police Involved Shooting Update

Posted on

The Mohave County Attorney’s Office, after review of the Kingman Police Department’s investigation of the officer-involved shooting of Justin Roady that occurred on November 23, 2014, has concluded that the actions of the three officers were justified and declined to bring any charges against the officers involved.

The analysis of the officers’ actions consists of comparing their actions against Arizona statutes related to the use of deadly force. Under Arizona statutes, a person is justified in using deadly force to protect themselves or a third party if a reasonable person believes that deadly force was immediately necessary to protect himself or a third party against the other’s use of, or attempted use of, unlawful deadly physical force.
