On Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Lake Havasu City police officers responded to the Emergency Department at Havasu Regional Medical Center for a report of a man having been stabbed
Responding officers learned 35-year old William Sandoval had been stabbed in the chest and was in the operating room due to his unstable condition. Sandoval was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 37-year old David Sutalo. Sutalo advised officers that a white male driving a red Honda Civic followed them from Rotary Park to Mulberry Avenue and told them to pull over. The two vehicles pulled over and the white male from the Honda Civic approached the passenger side of Sutalo’s vehicle and an altercation occurred between the male suspect and Sandoval that resulted in Sandoval being stabbed. Sutalo immediately took Sandoval to the hospital.
The license number for the Honda Civic was obtained by a witness, which provided officers with the registered owner’s name of Toby Levorson. Officers located the suspect vehicle in the 2000 block of N. Pima Drive within 15 minutes of the initial call and arrested 36-year old Levorson, who matched the suspect descriptions provided by Sutalo and the independent witness.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau were called-out to investigate the crime and conduct interviews. Levorson was charged with Aggravated Assault and held at the Lake Havasu City Jail. At his initial appearance he received a $150,000 bond and was transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
Sandoval underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition. All involved are residents of Lake Havasu City.
