On May 12, 2014, detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department assisted the United States Marshals Office in locating a wanted fugitive believed to be in Lake Havasu City. At approximately 5:25 p.m., 33-year old Benjamin Carter was located at a residence in the 3100 block of Kearsage Drive and was taken into custody without incident after surveillance units observed him exiting the residence.

Carter was wanted in connection to an April 16, 2014 homicide that occurred in his home town of Eureka, California that is being investigated by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. Lake Havasu City Police Department detectives provided additional assistance for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office detectives by executing a search warrant at the residence where Carter was located.

During the search warrant detectives located and seized marijuana and drug paraphernalia that was determined to belong to the resident, 39-year old Sunny Harvey. Harvey was cited and released at the scene pending her future initial appearance.

Carter was booked into the Lake Havasu City Jail as a fugitive from justice on a homicide arrest warrant. At his initial appearance he was remanded to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office on a no bond hold to await extradition back to California.
