Mohave County Sheriff’s Waterways deputies learned up a single boat injury accident early Saturday (8/20) evening. Approximately 5:25 p.m., deputies arrived at Contact Point with an arrestee onboard. Deputies observed a pontoon boat at the launch ramp and medical personnel were responding by land. Deputies contacted a San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office deputy and he said that he had been flagged down by occupants in the boat in Thompson Bay. The pontoon operator advised that his 6-year-old daughter had suffered a broken arm while tubing. The SBSO deputy escorted them to Contact Point for medical assistance. Deputies contacted the pontoon boat operator identified as Ryan Lee MacAfee, 45, of California. MacAfee said that the accident occurred in the Red Rock Cove, north of 3 Dunes on the Arizona side of the lake. MacAfee further said that he was pulling the tube behind his boat with his three children on the tube wearing life jackets when he turned right and the tube turned over. MacAfee advised that as he returned to retrieve his children that Georgia complained of pain in her left arm. Georgia was transported by ambulance to Havasu Regional Medical Center where she was treated for a broken arm. Deputies determined this incident was accidental.
