At approximately 5:53 pm on Saturday, Dec. 5th, 2015, a fire was reported by the occupants of the home in the 2200 block of Mimosa LN. The occupants discovered a fire in a rear bedroom and evacuated the residence. The first arriving fire company reported smoke and flames coming up over the roof from the rear windows and doors. Four Engine Companies, one Truck Company, and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire and gained control of the fire in 48 minutes. One of the occupants received minor burns to his legs. He was treated and transported to HRMC. There were no reported injuries to the firefighters. Eight CERT members responded to the fire to assist with Rehab duties for the firefighters. Off duty Firefighters were called in to man the stations. Crews remained on the scene an additional 3 hours conducting salvage operations. The home sustained heavy smoke and fire damage and has been estimated at $300,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Several posts were saved, some lost their lives.
