Mohave County Sheriff’s Waterways deputies responded to an overdue vessel Wednesday (10/28) evening. Approximately 7:30 p.m., deputies responded to Site Six boat launch area on The Island and contacted the reporting party. The RP said that around noontime today he rented a boat to Christopher Petruzzelli, 44, of Overgaard, AZ, and he was due back at Site Six at 6:00 p.m. today. The RP further said that Petruzzelli planned on traveling up to the gorge area and back. Petruzzelli’s cell phone went directly to voice mail. The boat is a 27-foot 1997 Sun Tracker white in color with green Bimini top. Lake Havasu City Police Department and San Bernardino’s Sheriff’s Office assisted. At about 10:50 p.m., Waterways deputies located the boat and the occupants in the area of Devil’s Elbow, north of Blankenship Bend. Apparently, the boat drifted and became stuck on a sandbar. Petruzzelli and the occupants onboard were okay. They were transported back to Site Six and the boat was towed by vessel assist.
