On Sunday (6/24) at approximately 6 PM, Deputies from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Division of Boating Safety responded to a call of a possible drowning at the London Bridge Beach swim area. Deputies were advised that a male subject had gone underwater and had not resurfaced. Upon arrival, deputies observed a male being pulled to shore. It was determined that the male, Bryan Torres, 18 from Lake Havasu City, had attempted to swim from shore to a floating platform approximately 100 feet away. As he was swimming, he suffered an asthma attack. During the attack, he lost consciousness and went underwater. The subject was not wearing a life jacket. Several Good Samaritans saw what had occurred and went to assist. The owner of a local personal watercraft company nearby took one of his rental watercrafts to the area. The Good Samaritans pulled the unconscious male, who was not breathing, from the water and loaded him onto the watercraft to transport him to shore. The male then began breathing again and was transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center for treatment. The male regained consciousness and is expected to recover.
