MCSO NEEDS PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE – WANTED PERSON

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s assistance in locating Amber Lee Smith, 34, of Kingman, and her two children.

Department of Child Services was in the process of taking temporarily custody of Smith’s children in Kingman, when Smith left with her children Friday (6/19) afternoon.

Amber Smith is wanted on a felony warrant for custodial interference issued by Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

Smith is a white female, 5’07” at 160 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair.

The missing children are; Justin Huerta, 8-year-old boy and Melissa Huerta 6-year-old girl.

An ATL (Attempt to Locate) was issued to law enforcement for Amber Smith and her children.

The vehicle is unknown or direction of travel.

UPDATE 22 JUNE 2015:

Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Amber Lee Smith, 34, of Kingman, Friday (6/19) evening on a felony warrant for custodial interference issued by Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. On Friday (6/19) Amber Smith had signed over her two children to the Department of Child Services at the DCS office. Apparently, Smith left the DCS office and picked her children up from a residence in Kingman. Shortly thereafter, the DCS worker responded to the residence and learned that Smith had taken the children. Late Friday (6/19) afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office issued a press release asking the public’s assistance in locating Smith and her two children. An ATL (Attempt to locate) was issued to law enforcement for Amber Smith and her children. Friday (6/19) evening, at about 10:30 p.m., deputies located Smith and her two children in the 3200 block of Potter Avenue. Smith was taken into custody without incident. The children were in good health and released to a Department of Child Services employee. Smith was transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail.
