On Friday 4-13-18 division of Boating Safety responded to the north basin of Lake Havasu for reports of a
kayaker that was in distress due to strong winds causing large waves.
Upon arrival, we located a female kayaker who was on a rocky shore off Crazy Horse campground. She was near a kayak which was
submerged and being thrown against the shore by the waves. The female, who was uninjured, advised that
she was an avid kayaker. She further advised that she was able to get to shore before she capsized from
the large waves. During this day the wind was consistent at approximately 30 miles per hour with gusts up to
50. We remind you that prior to going out on the water, check the weather, and understand the severity of the weather and how it affects the waterways.
