The male subject was identified as Enrique Reyes, a 58-year- old Lake Havasu City resident. Reyes arrived at the Quartzsite Police Department around 9:45 a.m. driving a vehicle that was currently registered to an address in the 2200 block of Seabring Drive in Lake Havasu City.

Lake Havasu City patrol officers responded to that address and located a deceased male subject in the living room. The victim was identified as Paul Smith, a 63-year- old Lake Havasu City resident. Smith had been shot at
least once and stabbed.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit took over the investigation. A
search warrant was served at the address and items of evidence were collected. No other victims
were located at the residence.

Reyes was interviewed by detectives of the Lake Havasu City Police Department. The time of death
appears to have been some time on Thursday, November 2, 2017, based on statements from Reyes.

Reyes was living at the location in Lake Havasu City with Smith for an unknown period of time. There
was no clear motive for the killing, other than a verbal argument that escalated into Reyes allegedly
killing Smith. An autopsy has been scheduled to help determine an exact cause of death.

Reyes remains in the custody of the La Paz County Sheriff’s Department pending extradition to
Mohave County where he will face murder charges. The investigation is ongoing and additional
charges are possible.
