The following information comes to us by our friends at the Lake Havasu City Fire Department, who wish to give some insight to how they operate.
A recent vehicle rollover accident at Mesquite and Riviera requiring patient extrication and use of hydraulic rescue techniques.
During accidents like this, there are multiple incident activities taking place simultaneously. While crews stabilize the vehicle with the use of struts pictured, patient evaluation and care is also underway. An extrication plan is put together by company officers on scene. Meanwhile, the Battalion Chief on scene provides incident oversight and directs all companies.
The hose line you see on the ground is ready and in the standby mode in the event fuel or wiring presents a fire problem for victims and rescuers.
