Attached is a letter I received from ISO, the agency that rates fire protection systems of public agencies. After periodically analyzing the readiness of a community’s water storage and delivery systems, and the operational effectiveness of a fire department, ISO assigns a rating on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the best). Many insurance companies use the ISO rating system as a basis to determine the cost of insurance in a particular area. Lake Havasu City has historically been a 3, which is quite favorable by most standards and the envy of many communities. I am pleased to report that our already-great rating just got even better, as the ISO has updated our rating to a 2! What this improvement might mean to local insurance rates is anybody’s guess, but I can tell you that out of the number of agencies where I have worked over the decades, this is the highest ISO rating I have experienced to date.
Congratulations and thank you to the fine folks in Utilities, Maintenance and other departments and divisions who make our systems about as good as they can possibly be. I don’t think there even any 1’s!
Good job everyone!
