Havasu Scanner Feed and The Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to offer some helpful safety tips to residents and visitors during the upcoming Halloween events around the community.

1- Avoid costumes that limit your vision and movement or that pose a tripping hazard.

2 -Stay highly visible. Use reflective tape, glow sticks or lights on costumes and trick-or-treat bags to help drivers see you.

3 – Use pedestrian crossways when available.

4 – Costume accessories that resemble weapons, such as swords, knives or guns should be handled responsibly.

5 -Avoid allowing young kids to trick-or-treat alone. Go in groups and with a trusted adult.

6 – Examine all treats for choking hazards and any signs of tampering before consuming.

7 – Drivers, please slow down and watch for children on roadways, crosswalks and curbs. Use extreme caution when entering or exiting driveways.

Have a safe and happy Halloween. In the event of an emergency, please contact the Lake Havasu City Police Department by calling 9-1-1. Non-emergencies can be handled by calling 928-855-1171.
