Mohave County Sheriff’s Waterways deputies responded to a person that was pulled from the water Wednesday (9/2) afternoon from Thompson Bay. At about 3:51 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Lake Havasu Regional Hospital emergency room regarding a drowning victim that was transported from State Beach (Thompson Bay). The victim, Christopher John Tank, 29, of Lake Havasu City was pronounced deceased by the emergency room doctor.

Apparently Tank and his girlfriend were swimming in the area and while they were swimming back in from the swim area buoys to shore Tank went under water and disappeared. Good Samaritans from the area came over and began searching the water for him and located him in approximately 7 feet of water. He was brought to shore where 911 was called and Lake Havasu City Fire Department and Police Department responded to the scene. Good Samaritans began CPR until emergency responders arrived and Tank was transported to the Hospital.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor and this death investigation is on-going. Autopsy results are pending.
