ASU Lock Down / Now Lifted

“This is the first time in six years we’ve received a threat that we believed was credible,” Van der Riet said. “Officers were here until they were comfortable that the threat was not credible. We’re expecting to lift the lockdown this morning.”

Arizona State University’s Lake Havasu City campus was in lock down on Thursday morning following threats made through social media, according to school officials.

Campus director Raymond Van der Riet did not elaborate on the nature of the threat, but Lake Havasu City Police officers were dispatched to maintain the safety of students and staff.

“This is the first time in six years we’ve received a threat that we believed was credible,” Van der Riet said. “Officers were here until they were comfortable that the threat was not credible. We’re expecting to lift the lock down this morning.”
